Lessons from Within
A poem written based on the book of Jonah in the Bible.

Jonah, a man who ran from the Father,
Believed going to Nineveh was such a bother.
Running away was the choice that he made,
Leading to death because he was afraid.
But God saw it fit, he spared his life,
Though Jonah did suffer trouble and strife.
Thrown into the deep where he thought he would die,
But in the belly of a fish was where he would lie.
Seeing the end was coming too fast,
He began to pray that this wouldn’t last.
For the choices he made,
A price needed to be paid.
Though God intervened,
In the fish, he was quarantined.
It was there that he learned that you can’t run from God,
Even if His direction may seem odd.
Some may say it was luck for him,
But God had a plan when he went for a swim.
Thanks to the fish and the lesson from within,
The people of Nineveh repented their sin.
