Glory Awaits
This is a poem that I wrote for a friend struggling with depression.
It is based on this passage of scripture for the Bible:
Romans 8:18
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time
Are not worth comparing with
The glory that is
To be revealed to us.”
The writer of this ancient text,
Had no idea what would happen next.
He knew that death was likely near,
But it was something he did not fear.
If he can look in the face of death,
And boldly say, not under his breath,
These sufferings of today are nugatory,
Compared to all the things awaiting me in glory.
Then I can surely do the same,
I can boldly stand and proclaim,
That the things of this life won’t get me down,
For one day, I’ll be in glory with the Lord, renowned.
